Orthotics fit into your shoes to modify and optimise your foot function. In many cases they help reduce pain, but they can also help to improve the body’s biomechanics by fine tuning the muscles, and helping to stabilise joints.

There are many types, such as cushioned heel cups or a variety of ‘off the shelf’ insoles, but the most effective are custom made devices. These are crafted to meet the specific needs of a particular individual. The orthotics are custom made using a CAD-CAM computer program to optimise foot correction. We prescribe Pegasus orthotics for some of the musculo-skeletal problems that we treat if the problem is thought to be significantly influenced by the person’s foot mechanics.
